Don Vaughan

In 1974 Don Vaughan formally assumed the role of consulting campus landscape architect, a continuation of his work at UVic since his early years in Lantzius's office during the 1960s. Trained at the University of Oregon in landscape architecture, Vaughan worked first with the Vancouver firm of John Lantzius, where he was responsible for projects such as Simon Fraser University Campus, the University of Victoria and projects at the University of British Columbia. Don Vaughan & Associates was formed in 1965. Some of the firm's various projects include ongoing work at the University of Victoria; the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden, Vancouver; and other Vancouver work including the Daon Plaza, the Bentall Centre and the Burrard Street ALRT Station (Discovery Square). Vaughan’s Vancouver-based practice (Vaughan Landscape Planning and Design) has remained principal landscape consultant for the university to the present day.
