Roderick Clack

A Victorian since an early age, Clack was Victoria's first city planner, hired by mayor Dick Wilson. He trained as an architect in 1958 and later became an architect and planner of international stature. Clack wanted to revitalize downtown Victoria; he worked on important public spaces including Centennial Square, Bastion Square and the Gorge redevelopment. One of Clack's strengths was his appreciation and awareness of public spaces. He created the modern Bastion Square, which then earned the Massey Award.
