At Legacy Art Galleries, art works to promote dialogue around issues that matter. Our exhibitions and programs activate research and learning through university and community collaborations.


At Legacy Art Galleries, in all our actions we value education, dialogue, collaboration, community, allyship, relevance and contributing to something larger.

Core Purpose:

  • To serve as an art resource for research, teaching, hands-on learning and student mentorship
  • To partner in artistic and community collaborations reflecting diversity and exploring ideas and issues relevant to today
  • To mobilize student and faculty research and enhance engagement of the university with communities through exhibitions and programs
  • To be a cultural hub and a centre for public programming and events linking the university with the larger community
  • To build, care for and exhibit a quality art collection which features strengths in Pacific Northwest Coast and Contemporary Indigenous art and Decorative arts for the benefit and education of present and future generations on and off campus
